Review of Columbus (2017) by Ben A — 21 Aug 2017
Love this film. Reminded me of how I felt watching Short Term 12 - exceptionally directed movie full of actors doing their very best work. Haley Lu Richardson is heartbreaking/invigorating, and John Cho gets a (criminally rare) chance to shine. Kogonada's camerawork is restrained, but his work with the actors is Kazan-level good; I haven't seen performances this genuine from a festival film in a long time.
PLUS: Parker Posey is in this. And Parker Posey is basically god in person form.
Highly recommended.
