If you're contemplating suicide, this is the flick for you.
I've always found Sedaris to be a pretty hilarious guy, but this is not very comedic at all. Maybe I'm just not sophisticated enough to appreciate all the dark humor, but jeezes this poor schlep gets his ass kicked every step of the way and takes nothing away from it. I don't demand happy endings at all and I appreciate grit, but this movie gives the main character a bad start and a failed ending. Maybe it's just an artistic statement that there's no point in the universe, but as for me, I'd rather aspire to something a little more. Even if it's the ability to find humor in the insanity of existence. Don't expect this movie to deliver on that.
