Review of Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky (2009) by Bill D — 17 Jul 2010
Disappointingly episodic though lavish and visually effective, this film seemed to bite off more than it could chew: World War One, Russian Revolution, women's growing Independence in the 1920's, music, fashion, industrial and fashion design.
I wish it had picked one story and told that one well. It seemed like an extended montage rather than a single, coherent artistic expression.
