A beautiful and sexy yet ultimately hollow film. The production design is great, with every prop and wall paper chosen meticulously. The costumes are also superb, a requirement for a film about Coco Chanel.

The music is also amazing, recycling many Stravinsky pieces perfectly. But the film lacks an emotional core. The titular couple barely seems to bond, and the actress playing Catherine Stravinsky is made so plain and undesirable you can hardly blame Igor for lusting after the tempting Chanel.

The beautiful photography of the love scenes cannot make up for the lack of emotional desire, and renders the end of the film tedious. For foreign design freaks only.
