Review of Cloudburst (2011) by Timothy B — 13 Jul 2013

I just didn't get this movie. it ticked the box for so many lesbian cliches, went for laughs when approaching real potential for authentic poignancy, and threw so many naked men and penis jokes at me I wondered if it was uncomfortable with it's subject matter.

To round off, it reverted to the old tradition of killing off at least one of the homosexual characters at the end of the movie. As an older lesbian I found it shallow, uninformed and, frankly, insulting.

Dukakis and Fricker did exceptionally well given the appaling script. I can't tell you how pelexed I am by the awards and accolades this film has received. I went in full of delightful expectation and came out feeling that the opportunity to make a truly meaningful movie had been bypassed.
