Review of Civic Duty (2006) by Moniker G — 06 Jun 2007
"Civic Duty" is a decent (but not great) film featuring Peter Krause (Six Feet Under) and Kari Matchett (Invasion, 24). In an homage to Rear Window, Krause plays Terry Allen, a recently laid-off accountant. He begins staying up late, and one night he sees a new neighbor move in. The neighbor is "Middle Eastern" and Terry is troubled by the fact that he only moved in with a couple of duffle bags (no furniture, etc.). Although his wife thinks he's just being paranoid, Terry begins following and spying on the neighbor. He finds more and more evidence, most of which could be explained away. He becomes more and more paranoid, and his wife leaves him. But *is* he being paranoid? Or is there something to his madness?
The film is put together well, and is entertaining enough to catch on cable. Sadly, it's not complelling enough to watch in a theatre or add to a Nexflix queue.
