Review of Cenizas del paraíso (1997) by Tisha T — 10 Jun 2008
My favorite movie. It's not the best movie ever, but I saw it when it came out in Argentina in 1997. So, it has the sentimental vote. It's a great social commentary on the corruption and injustice that runs throughout Argentine society.
The movie is full of visual hints into each character's true being. I also like the flashback style of the movie. It adds to the mind-f*ck feeling of the movie, as you are constantly trying to figure out what is really going on.
Also, I absolutely adored the soundtrack, but can't find it in the U.S. It must be the presence of the Cuban resistance singer, Santiago Feliu, on the soundtrack that warrants the exclusion in the U.
S. Damn politics.
