Review of Carry On Constable (1960) by David B — 24 Apr 2012
One of the best of the early "CArry On" series. Flu knocks out half the regular police force leaving Sid James sergeant having to deal with a bunch of rookie coppers who are very green behind the ears.
Some patchy bad taste but on the whole an enjoyable rainy afternoon film from 1960. Fascinating how things have changed in West London over the past 50 years. The black and white cinematography is striking and to see the old cars and transportation system and low technology is quite revealing.
Very camp in places as can be expected with this cast but some strong female character parts and a happy ending (of course)!
