Review of Capone (1975) by Stephen C — 21 Nov 2011
Not bad gangster movie but the biggest problem here is that you can hardly understand what Gazzara is saying with marbles in his mouth and some massive overacting on his part.
Their is of course lashings of gunplay and violence and somehow Harry Guardino and a criminally underused John Cassavettes try and give the film some style and kudos.
But after a while you feel the director Steve Carver just wants to hit you over the head with all the BIG acting and folks dying in a hail of lead rather than focus on the interesting side of Capones life.
One is desperate for producer Roger Corman to take the reins at least he knew how to tell a story all we get is endless shoot outs and not much point.
A misfire and not in a good way.
