Review of Cameraman: The Life and Work of Jack Cardiff (2010) by Matthew L — 20 Dec 2010
Stunning Documentary focusing on the work of Jack Cardiff who over the perios of 9 decades was resposible for some of the most stunning Camerawork in cinema history.
Cardiff started as a runner and work his way up to become DP on the classics A matter of Life and Death ,The Red Shoes and the African Queen oh and Rambo 2.
What stands out is how much of a gentleman Cardiff was even when working for hard taskmen like Henry Hathaway and Alfred Hitchcock.
His still camera pica of some of the most beautiful women in film really grab your attention and the talking heads such as Freddie Francis,Kirk Douglas and of Course Martin Scorsese all hold your attention and the film tells Cardiffs amazing life story.
A doc for real film fans and one for folks who want to learn about the work a Dp Does.
