Review of California Suite (1978) by Victor L — 23 Jun 2010
So-so comedy that works thanks to Jane Fonda's and Maggie Smith's terrific performances and a screenplay that was sharp and clever most of the times. Richard Pryor and Bill Cosby are unbereable: all their scenes were stupid, overperformed and unfunny.
Michael Caine and Alan Alda were good vehicle that let Fonda and Smith shine. Walter Matthau played himself once again. It's a worthy film to watch after all.
