Review of Calendar (1993) by Garrett T — 15 Apr 2008
I always find it that Atom Egoyan's films are deceptive in that the viewer may find the stated plotline dull, but once you start watching the movie, it becomes so engrossing and that's what this film was like.
It was done on such a low budget and with so few actors, yet it's so profound. Very interesting how the main character that Egoyan plays has to relive his break up with Arsinee Khanjian by having these paid escorts (some of them, very attractive) go throught this routine of needing to make a phone call and then speak to someone they are obviously attracted to more than Egoyen in several different languages that he can't understand.
Very good film.
