Review of Broken English (2007) by Itai B — 13 Sep 2011
Broken English has quickly become one of my favorites ever since it was suggested to me back in 2008. Because I was so fearful of Netflix taking it off Watch Instantly, I puchased it. It means THAT much to me.
I think what makes you, as a watcher, completely overlook some general flaws in the film itself, is that you connect so deeply with Nora's (Parker Posey) desperation. It grips you. I found that the chemistry between the actors was strong, especially that of Parker Posey and Melvil Poupaud.
There is a rawness about it that I truly believe deserves recognition. This will always be a very special film to me.
