Review of Brief Encounter (1945) by Andy H — 14 Jun 2007
This, the most British of all films, is..I feel..a timeless gesture of a kinder, gentler time when manners kept emotions in check and a story could be so simple as to be utterly powerful. Alkso acting as an allegory for a homosexual relationship, the number of physical barriers placed between them, and the symbolic use of imagery is still as strong today.
Incredible.
