Review of Boys of Abu Ghraib (2014) by Dori R — 28 Mar 2014
I found this to be an amazingly well-balanced film, without the need to rely on gratuitous torture and nudity scenes. We all know what happened over there (the disgusting and degrading treatment of other human beings), but this film focuses effectively on the journey of an individual soldier.
There's a reason this film won the Audience Award at the Gasparilla Film Festival - because it's a great film. I was there to witness the crowd go crazy for this film. 86 out of 90 voters gave it 5 out of 5 stars.
The film is such a wonderful psychological exploration of the human condition that it didn't need to rely on blood and gore and sensationalism. As such, women will also enjoy this film, as has every man I know that has seen it.
