Review of Bottom of the World (2017) by Manu S — 28 Feb 2018
Fab movie but not too most people's taste because it has a hundred interpretations and you are left to find meaning yourself.
This is my interpretation. Spoiler Alert.
First thing is to decide what is real and what is a dream. The real bits are at the end.
I think Alex is the guy in the wheelchair she killed if he had grown up.
She needs her soul to be at peace after the terrible crimes she has committed on this boy. The only way that can be achieved is if that boy gets his revenge (notice how reluctant he is, cause she knows he loves her) by killing her.
So in the beginning she is trying to run away from her miserable situation with the wheelchair guy all grown up. But her past catches up with her in this Town and she can't get away from it.
Alex's story is then just her dreaming about how he kills her; and both their souls can then rest in peace.
