Review of Boarding Gate (2007) by Eric R — 01 Feb 2010
This film really is quite a mess. Essentially I have no idea what it is trying to be or say. The first half is rather intriguing, as the viewer is forced to study the odd relationship between Argento and Madsen.
Assayas does a good job with this part of the film, revealing little things about their relationship as the film goes on. The film just goes completely downhill in the second half pretty much becoming this generic internationally thriller.
Argento really does do a good job, trying to hold the film together, but its really just not possible. I must say, its quite surprising for Olivier Assayas to be this far off...
