Review of Blue Like Jazz (2012) by Rob K — 13 Apr 2012
Not as quirky as it seems in the trailer -- The pope and robots somehow fit right in to this magic carpet ride. I thought/hoped there would be more laugh-out-loud moments (it's co-genred as a comedy, after all). But if you can find your way back (or forward, or sideways) to your college days, you'll be rewarded with a story that has layers and layers of subtleties that can barely be absorbed in one showing.
I'm a little concerned that the demographic for this movie is so hard to pin down. It won't be seen by a ton of people because of how hard it is to classify. This movie inspires and challenges and convicts, like a great sermon. There, I just classified it. But I don't think I did it justice...
