Review of Blood Wedding (1981) by James-Masaki R — 07 Feb 2012
Saura's documentary on Antonio Gades rehearsing with his dancers for a performance of "Blood Wedding" is a really fascinating look into the world of Flamenco on stage, But instead of climaxing to the actual performance, the entire film is just behind the scenes.
And carefully choreographed as well. You never feel like you're watching a documentary, as there isn't frenetic camerawork or voice over narration. Beautifully executed, as with Gades & company's moves.
