Totally intelligent, poetic and affecting. A beautifully memorable treatment of complex and socially confronting themes. The film presents very flawed characters some of which are quite unsympathetic, but then allows the audience to feel total compassion and empathy for them.
Really creative, substantial film making! All the actors offered amazing portrayals, but I think Frances O'Connor's is sublime, especially in the final scenes.
