Review of Blank City (2011) by City E — 13 Apr 2011
I went out of my way to see this at IFC. A lot of these characters were people I was familiar with from one place or another. The movie gives a very interesting perspective on filmmaking and on New York. It is crazy to see footage of the LES and East Village only 30-40 years ago. So much has changed. Definitely have a bit of a crush on Nick Zedd, not going to lie.
The director was at the screening I went to so we even got some additional commentary afterwards. I was sort of surprised that the director was French (with a thick, thick accent). I would've thought she'd be someone closer to the scene but then, when you have that many filmmakers in one scene, who is really going to make the move to create a movie about it?
