Review of Big Sur (2013) by Andrew L — 08 Nov 2013
Big Sur is a slow ride for Jack Kerouac, but that's nothing new. If you go into the movie knowing that, you can enjoy it for all the supporting roles. Josh Lucas plays a great friend who isn't fully happy unless he away from his family.
Radha Mitchell is the unhappy wife, who Jack has a crush on. Anthony Edwards and Balthazar Getty are excellent in minor roles. But Kate Bosworth's Billie is what makes the movie go. Once on screen, you stop thinking about the slow plot and realize why she makes the men in the movie crazy.
Jack realizes the depths of his despair while courting Billie. Definitely worth a rental just to see the supporting actors.
