Review of Beneath (2013) by Brandon I — 09 Apr 2014

While I appreciated the use of practical effects, and though there is some good tension once the kids are out on the water, I found the cast so incredibly unlikable. Almost to an extent where I believe maybe that was the point. However, I don't really want to watch a killer fish movie with a bunch of kids I would throw in the water myself. Johnny is the only sympathetic character but even he is hard to follow, being a complete imbecile. Camp movies like this need interesting or at least likable, shallow characters (see Piranha 3D), otherwise it's just waiting to throw bodies to the fish.

The movie itself is not horrible; just really didn't want to take the ride with these six kids.
