Review of Becoming Bond (2017) by Brennan K — 19 Jun 2017
On Her Majesties Secret Service is one of THE best Bond films. That's probably more due to Dame Diana Rigg than the "Transitional Bond". Although he tells an incredible story, Lazenby comes off as contrary and willful.
Somewhat immature. We all make choices we later re-think. How many actors wish they had chosen that ONE role? We all march to the beat of our own drummer. Mr. Lazenby's is a philharmonic orchestra.
Legend has it that Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels were scrutinized and groomed for the image of the heroes they portrayed. If only Mr. Lazenby could have been equally mentored - what would the Bond franchise look like after seven films with him between Connery and Roger Moore? Forgive the harshness, but he comes off as a cosplayer, when he really could have been so much more.
Pity, he starred in one of THE finest films, as one of THE most engaging characters.
