Review of Beautiful Wave (2012) by Jon C — 12 Jul 2012
Very well made direct-to-video movie.
Aimee Teegarden puts on a relatable performance playing a surfer aiming to finish what her father started.
Lance Henriksen is pretty good as the grandfather hoping to rekindle what he also lost.
The music is emotionally satisfying, there's gorgeous cinematography, and not a single actor is terrible.
1 or 2 plotholes come up, however, the movie feels artful enough but not to get stuck in the areas of manipulation, being mean-spirited or blatant.
Young girls will enjoy this journey of self-discovery, reconnection, love, family, hope, and rememberance.
