Review of Bastard Out of Carolina (1996) by Nikky A — 31 Aug 2007
An amazing story. The movie itself is a little weak. Jena Malone's acting is brilliant, considering she was 11 years old when it filmed. The other actors and direction aren't even up to par with a child's acting.
But the story makes it worth it...a woman's constant choosing of her lover over her child, who is beaten by her step-father repeatedly. The narration is ridiculously corny.
