Review of Barton Fink (1991) by Simon D — 20 May 2012
This end result of two of the greatest filmmakers of all time getting writer's block during the attempts to write their previous movie (Miller's Crossing) is an enlightening, original experience and the first collaboration between the genius cinematographer Roger Deakins and the Brothers.
There's a whole lot going on underneath the surface of this wonderful movie to the point where it's hard to wrap your head around it first time around. However, give it a couple more viewings and the meanings start to reveal themselves, if not always entirely clear.
In addition to all this, great performances from Turturro and Goodman help make this one of the best films the Coen Brothers have produced to this day.
