Review of Barton Fink (1991) by Goran M — 01 Sep 2009
This is a true masterpiece.Barton Fink represents the Coen Brothers them selves....what is the connection? Well the Coen brothers are also Jewish writers, who got the spotlight for their "Blood Simple", and then got the opportunity to make big Hollywood films, but they are always branded as "artists", too idealistic for the general public (their movies are rarely fully appreciated or understood, and make only a small profit, but their genius high critic ratings keeps them afloat).
...as one of the characters in the says : "We're only interested in one thing, Bart. Can you tell a story? Can you make us laugh? Can you make us cry? Can you make us want to break out in joyous song? Is that more than one thing? Okay!" .
...they are literally and intentionally Barton Fink. It is their personal tale.
