Review of Barton Fink (1991) by Tom C — 15 Nov 2009
Meticulously detailed, surreal portrait of an artist's struggle in Hollywood. I often wonder if the whole movie is supposed to be a dream.
Barton Fink is certainly one of the funniest Coen brother movies. There's something about the sheer madness of everything in the movie that I find extremely hilarious. For me, the film is easily on par with Lebowski, Hudsucker, and Arizona in terms of comedy.
I'm still amazed that the Coens were allowed to make a movie like this, even with the credentials they had by 1991.
