Review of Barry Lyndon (1975) by Kenneth L — 15 Dec 2012
Though an odd candidate, this is doubtlessly the best bio-pic ever made, as well as one of the most entertaining literary translations on film. What begins as a perfectly droll Candide-like comedy in the first half grows into an unexpectedly powerful period drama by its end, with absolutely flawless cinematic beauty all the way through.
One of those very rare films that might be called "perfect".
