Review of Barnacle Bill (1957) by Simon R — 27 Sep 2008
Not the best known Alec Guinness film but an absolute gem.
Guinness plays a sea captain with chronic sea sickness who buys a seaside pier. However, when the town council attempts to buy it back with a compulsory purchase order a battle of wits ensues.
Charming, witty and lots of fun. A must for lovers of classic British comedy.
