Review of Bangkok Revenge (2011) by Tim M — 19 Mar 2013
Bangkok Dangerous is one of those movies from the far east that you'll forget five minutes after watching it. It's pretty terrible. Cliche'd, boring and less than mediocre, it fails on so many levels.
The concept of a fighter who has no emotion is a good one, but they never go far enough with it, AND they constantly violate it all the time, leaving many a plot hole. The acting doesn't make it any better either.
Watching Asian actors phoenetically say bad dialogue with the wrong inflections can be fun, but not in this instance. The action itself is ho-hum; a lot of close-ups, multiple angles, speed up/slow down, and of course, the dreaded shakey cam thing.
It's not that great. At least there's real blood. There is that. Well, there isn't much else good to say about it. I'd say skip it and find other Asian action movies worth watching. I'd recommend something like Police Story or Hard Boiled.
Now those are good example of great Asian action cinema.
