Review of Avenue Montaigne (2006) by Pedro P — 23 Sep 2008
Polished, charmingly romantic French comedy/drama about the yearnings of an ordinary young woman and the rich and famous celebrities she encounters in her job as a waitress at a famous Paris bistro. A richly layered slice-of-ideal-Parsian-life, a film about love and art (and food), about passing time and time passing.
Not a fully great film, but damn near close. A delightful, humble pleasure. Made me want to start discovering the work of Danièle Thompson and re-fall in love with Cécile De France; undoubtedly her most adorable performance yet.
