Review of Automata (2014) by Joe C — 17 Nov 2014
"Blade Runner" meets "I Am Robot." This futuristic film noir imagines what might happen when a dying human race begins to witness the evolution of the automatons it built to service them.
This "Rise of the Machines" is stylish and looks like it cost more than it did. It's thinking-man's sci-fi, much in the same way "Snowpiercer" was earlier in the year. Antonio Banderas, Dylan McDermott, Robert Forster and Melanie Griffith are welcome familiar faces, even if Griffith's new face rivals the automatons in terms of synthetic wonder.
