Review of Atlantic City (1980) by John T — 06 Apr 2010
Atlantic City is the first Louis Malle film I've seen besides Au Revoir, Les Enfants, which is one of my ten favorite films of all time. Atlantic City has that same sentimental, humanizing honesty to it but on a level that deals with old age instead of young age. The performances are absolutely fantastic, especially from Susan Sarandon. The script is equally hearty with the same level of veracity (without compromising its engagement) throughout.
Just a grade A film that I'd recommend to anyone of any age.
