Review of Are You Here (2015) by Mario H — 28 Aug 2014
This is a great movie, a comedic tragedy depicting real life, except it is all fiction. Nothing really comes to a sudden closure. The movie is about a none-apathetic approach to life, concern which is often accompanied by madness.
The loss of someone who refuses to settle for less and wants to improve situations is the reason why there seems to be an abstract ending. It does not readily grasp the interest of those who are ultimately disinterested in a cause of any kind.
Coming to face with reality, without a mental illness or drugs or superstition, an important point in the movie seldom emphasized or noticed, is what keeps someone from going into a maddening depression.
Ultimately this movie will resonate with few and be disliked by many. I give it a four star for the very least of having this unique perspective.
