Review of Ararat (2002) by Peter D — 15 Sep 2007
A devastatingly effective portrayal of the Armenian genocide and its lasting effects, generation after generation, on the relationship between Turks and Armenians living around the world. It lingered with me long after I saw it.
After watching the special features on the DVD, though, I had the weird feeling that the cast and crew "got" this film, and Egoyan himself totally missed the point. I start to think Egoyan's work is hit and miss because he himself has so little insight as to what makes his films work.
