Review of Anvil! The Story of Anvil (2008) by Joseph C — 22 Jun 2009
Part American Movie.
Part The Wrestler.
Part The Rocker.
Anvil is a mixture of all things that make movies great.
A sense of realness, a superior story of struggle, and rock n' roll.
Like most effective documentaries, this film does not make fun of our subjects. The goal is to laugh with the band, not at them. To feel the pain of the band, and not just think they are losers.
Anvil is anything but losers. Their fighters. In a society where so much is give it to me now, or move on, we see a shining example of artists who for thirty years have believed in what they do, and how they do it and will not quit until they are satisfied with what they have created.
All of us probably wish we had that same passion, but so few have the willingness fall flat on our faces and get back up.
The movie is real, and often real is more interesting than fiction.
