Mike Leigh masterfully directs yet another slice-of-life comedy about a middle class "family" of characters. At the center lies Tom and Gerry, a happily married middle-aged couple. Slowly this film sneaks up in its realism and .
.. I have seen many Mike Leigh films and this one may actually be the cruelest toward its characters. Not a complaint since Mike Leigh has strongly drawn characters and a well-designed story.
