Review of Anna Karenina (1935) by Benjamin W — 09 Aug 2007
Garbo is better silent, and without the poodle cut. The wooden acting that worked perfectly for the stiff character in Ninotchka, fails. The director, Clarence Brown seems a little under rated to me (garbo kills the film, not him).
He definitely has a recognizable style from what I can tell by comparing this with Flesh and the Devil.
