Review of American Teen (2008) by Aaron M — 11 Aug 2008
I absolutely loved this documentary. It's the kind of doc that makes you want to stand up and cheer when it ends. This transports you right back to high school...all the greatness, the sadness, the awfulness, the friendships, the cliques, the pressures, the hatreds, the parents, and all the bad moments that you wish never happened and that you could take back.
This really captures modern high school times like only true life could. The animated sequences really add depth to the piece, and make it original. Even though it brought back a ton of bad memories, it really does the job.
The kids are, for all their faults, interesting and (mostly) likable. It's funny. It's sad. It will make you smile. Just like life. Just like high school. I loved it.
