Review of America America (1963) by Christine R — 07 Jan 2012
Excellent movie about a young Greek subject of the Ottoman Empire just before the turn of the 20th Century who dreams of a better life for him and the family the leaves behind in America.
As the son of immigrants, I have a special love and connection to the immigrant's journey and even the concept of the "American Dream" (even if that dream more often than not is a mirage for many today).
This film has great acting, and Elia Kazan directs the movie with with slow pacing, but every step of the physical and emotional journey of the main character to America is well done.
