Review of Alphaville (1965) by Quecuatzl K — 20 Dec 2007
For the first 20 minutes, I thought it was just being French. But as it went on, man it got so freakin good. Disembodied voices, bleeps and bloops randomnly calling out. Lights that disappear for no reason.
Images going negative. A comment on the paranoid future we're living now where we've lost control, and words slowly die supposedly for our own good. The outlander arrives in a wretched city that he despises in order to destroy it, which is probably how Godard saw himself.
I actually enjoyed it. I love the fact he kills the mastermind behind Alpha 60, who reminded me of Einstein. They should have blown that geek's brains out a long time ago.
