Review of Alone in the Wilderness (2004) by Alex D — 13 Jul 2013
I can't even explain how this film managed to grab a hold of me as a viewer. It looks outdated, sounds outdated and well it is outdated. Nothing amazing is happening just a man building a log cabin the wilderness but somehow this is just mesmerizing once he gets going.
As a viewer watching this man build this cabin and doing something that 95 percent of the population probably cannot do is something oddly interesting. I couldn't take my eyes away, as he cut, shaped and erected his quaint home.
I guess its something like watching a history lesson, because there are not many Dick Proenneke's around anymore.
