Review of Ain't Them Bodies Saints (2013) by Agustin G — 10 Oct 2013
Ain't Them Bodies Saints is a new classic that brings the nuances of good westerns in a rather vintage set time. The writing locks clean with the acting naturally. Be warned though, it is a passive movie that takes it's time to set up, but in a way that's comparable to the sensibilities of the Coen brothers or Tarrence Mallick, aesthetic wise.
This film uses that time to build up character development. It does this very well bring you full circle by the end. It's a beautiful movie that encapsulates an eerie sense of nostalgia interwoven in a solid indie flick.
From David Lowry's Pioneer short film to this feature film, he shows promise for story telling and now, his direction in full length feature films. Am looking forward to what his next movie might be.
