Review of Aftermath (1994) by Andrew M — 02 Jun 2008
I've noticed that a lot of people (especially gorehounds and horror nuts) see this by itself, completely unaware that it's the second film of a trilogy, along with The Awakening and Genesis. I initially saw all three together, and I'm glad. Together they tell a complete story, which is both darkly beautiful and devastatingly sad.
Yes, the imagery in Aftermath can be hard to stomach, but it has significant artistic merit... which unfortunately is rarely acknowledged by the shock-seekers it tends to attract.
