Review of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) by Arun K — 28 Jul 2017
Relationship/love may or may not be complicated. But to explain everything using dialogues may have left all other ingredients of the movie gasping for dear life. Shaayari never got to breathe freely among all the chatter.
Lisa Haydon though stood to gain from her dialogues and innocent charm. Ranbir and Anoushka have played their parts well. Some cliches were left standing on the altar, gathering dust - cameos pushing the message further, bollywood poking fun at bollywood to sustain bollywood, age old brotherhood of unrequitted love and terminal illness, middle finger's association with irreverence and creativity - to name a few.
Camera loved what it captured, more so with Aishwarya and Vienna. In parts the movie was playing to the layman who is believed to have come looking for his dreams to be fulfilled on screen. Mushkil it is and the viewer is to decide the magnitude.
