Review of Across 110th Street (1972) by Matt B — 24 Oct 2007
Part of the blaxploitation genre, yet not fitting in it as neatly as some other films, Across 110th Street seems a little more pure on getting the racial issues out in the open instead of the characters being all stereotypes.
The hero of the story is a black cop who's trying to knock some sense into his racist white partner; A rare scene for the times, and in my opinion an important step for breaking stereotypes in cinema.
The action is sweet, the drama is well delivered, and it's way funky soundtrack by Bobby Womack is the best topper to this great timepiece of a flick.
