Review of Accidents Happen (2009) by Selwyn L — 01 May 2010
Laugh-out-loud funny and moving, this was an unexpectedly satisfying and enjoyable Australian-made movie strangely set in a neutral location in 1960s America. Although the situations are somewhat manufactured, it all starts to come together and make really sense when Billy starts to understand that there are consequences for his selfish acts of adventure and begins to think of the others around him.
Billy, played by young Harrison Gilbertson whom we last saw in "Blessed", was excellent as was Geena Davis. What a pity we missed the recent Palace Movie Club preview screening with Q&A session with Geena Davis present!
