Review of Aberdeen (2000) by Jc B — 17 Jun 2007
Absolutely no one saw this funny Scottish/Norwegian co-pro. I know people from Aberdeen who have never heard of this film. It is a road movie about a promiscious and brilliant cokehead businesswoman who has to bring her alcoholic father back from Norway.
To her mother's deathbed in Aberdeen. Neither of them are capable of caring for themselves much less each other. No one hugs in this one and there are no tidy story arcs. It is very funny and very bleak.
The acting is top-notch, all avoid sentimentality.
